Reactions

Living in a tropical climate it is always hot and humid especially during summer. With this weather it cannot be avoided that people are hot headed and tensions can easily rise during stressful situations.
We’ve got fire fights on-going in Marawe; rallies against the government and their policies. Every single day we are facing a battle; not just in our country but within us. We listen to disheartening news being broadcast, we hear gossip that is depressing yet irritating at the same time. Daily we face a decaying world filled with negativity.
This negative trash that we pick-up on a daily basis is making our lives a land fill that any drop of pressure results in us bursting in outrage. I myself am very guilty of this.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45
Having said that, we should learn to respond and not react. We should develop the discipline to bite our tongue and to not allow emotional outburst. What this requires is to always be conscious of our words and actions and never say nor act when our judgment is clouded.
I am sharing this not for the person reading this note. I am sharing this to remind me that I’ve still got so much work to do on myself. That despite the negative world that we live in, I have no control of what happens around me but I have the power to respond, not react.
Ultimately we are placed on this earth to love.

Jumpstart

One Sunday as I was on the way to church, a man waved me down on the parking lot of Waterfront. As I stopped and rolled down my window, I hesitantly asked what was wrong. He responded that his car battery is dead and needs a jumpstart.
Now at this time and age, we’ve got to be cautious with the people that we deal with so I tried to find a reason not to help. Initially I said, “I don’t have any jumper cable.” but he replied that he has one. Then my next excuse was that I’m running late for church and I could not help. So I went on my way to find a parking spot and headed for church.
As I walked towards church, I could not help but be bothered. I sounded so religious in saying I can’t help because I’m late for church. When in reality isn’t that what we’re supposed to do as a church: HELP PEOPLE!
Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do as a church: HELP PEOPLE!
In the end, I shared the story with my dad, who was waiting for me in the lobby, and we went back to the parking lot to help out a person in need. We were late for church but I just had peace in my heart that we did a good thing and was able to give out a helping hand.
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. Matthew 25:40

What's Your Excuse?!

What’s your excuse? We all have dreams and aspirations, it could be a new business or a promotion. That crush that we just can’t seem to ask out. Even to start living right by eating healthy and exercise. How about learning a new skill or hobby to enrich ourselves.
Have we attained any of these things that we want to accomplish? Congratulations if you said yes. But most probably you are a part of the majority that still have not achieved their goals in life. Like many, we’ve got loads of plans and dreams, but we’ve got even more excuses.
I’m not ready, you say. I’m not equipped or capable of this or that. If I reach a certain goal then I’ll go for it. That along with an entire phonebook (kids, that’s where we find contacts back in the day before google) of excuses of I’m not and when I...
Don’t let your own excuse stop you from attaining your dreams. But, nothing! It does not matter whether I know what you’re going through or not. No one will help you succeed but yourself. If you’re waiting for the right time or the right person to help create an opportunity, then you’ll be disappointingly waiting for quite sometime.
What I’m saying is this: take the initiative to make the first step. You may not succeed right away and it would be scary but you’re one step closer to your dream. When you face obstacles, that’s a good indication that you’re in the right path. If it were easy then it would not be worth having.
Now... What’s your excuse?!
But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.” Jeremiah 1:7

Who are You?

Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?”
John 1:22
I’m a graduate of University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a Professional Certificate in Business Management. I am engaged in my family business SD Autoworld and the Director of Sales for Speedfusion Networks. An entrepreneur, insurance agent, social media manager, tech aficionado and developer of people and business.
But that’s not who I really am. In reality, who you are is more than just a title or what you’ve achieved or what you do. It is your identity, that which directs your life in pursuit of your passion and for excellence.
I prefer to be seen as a developer. No, I don’t design or build buildings. I build up people and business. And yes, in that order because when you build up people, equip them and give them a sense of being, they will build up your business.Knowing who you are is half the battle. The other half is about execution and being who you are. If you’re still at a crossroads not knowing who you are, don’t be pressured. This does not come overnight. Continue to explore and experience new things, especially the youth, this is where you begin to know one’s self.
